Sunday 10am to 1pm

Elwick Village Hall, The Green

Elwick Village, Hartlepool

Is a Theatre School for children who are serious about the performing arts. The school has been established for 20 years in Hartlepool and offers quality training and professional performance opportunities. The school offers tuition in singing, acting and dance.

Paula Odell coordinates the sessions at Rising Stars and personally teaches the singing. Dance and drama sessions are presented by teachers who have industry experience in each discipline.

The school works to a very high standard and students are very successful. Three students from the school were chosen to be part of the UK Oliver Tour, including a boy who was picked for the actual role of 'Oliver'. Two students have gained the role of 'Debbie' in Billy Elliot (The West End Production and the UK Tour). The school produced a boy to play 'Benji' in Priscilla Queen of the Dessert (playing along side Jason Donavan and Duncan). Four students, at the age of eleven, have gained scholarships at full time theatre school in London including Tring and Suzie Earnshaw's school and another student was accepted at The Brit School in London. Children are often turning up to sessions with stories of winning school talent contests and gaining major roles in school shows. Whatever the achievement of these students we are proud of them all.

Students at Rising Stars are always informed and updated about any local and national opportunities.

The children who attend Rising Stars also sing as part of a youth choir and in June 2019 they performed as the 'Joseph Choir' for Bill Kenwright's production of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at The Darlington Hippodrome Theatre. Training starts again this September as we will be forming the Joseph Choir again when the touring production comes to the Billingham Forum Theatre in November.
